The IT pressures small businesses are actually under

Without a dedicated in-house team, IT in a small business tends to live in the gaps between people's day jobs. That works until it doesn't, and the cost of "doesn't" usually shows up in a bad week rather than a single bad day.

When the network goes down, the whole business stops

Email, files, booking and accounting all run on the same plumbing. Most generalist IT firms find out it's broken when you ring to say so.

Security can't be the thing nobody got round to

Business email, customer records, banking and payroll are exactly what attackers go after, and small businesses are not the unlikely targets they're assumed to be.

Nobody in the building actually owns IT

IT lives wherever it lands, the office manager, the founder, the person vaguely good with a laptop. That works until it doesn't.

Growth keeps changing the shape of the problem

Ten, twenty, thirty people, at each step, the IT that worked at the last size starts to crack. SMEs need IT that scales with them.

Reliable IT, and a real person to call

The four things small-business owners and office managers ask us about most, and the four things we own, end to end, so you don't have to think about them.

Everything kept running, quietly

Proactive monitoring of networks, devices, email and the systems your business depends on, so most problems are caught before they reach your desk.

Security built in, not bolted on

Email protection, identity, encryption, backups and monitoring set up around how your business works, not a generic package, sized to a 10-, 30- or 80-person firm.

Your IT team, without the headcount

For a business without in-house IT, we are that team, monitoring, security, vendor liaison, joiners and leavers, and a second opinion when needed.

A real person, not a portal

Phone, email or WhatsApp, whichever your team uses. A real person who knows your setup, not a ticket queue or a portal.

Let's talk about your setup

How we work with small businesses

A long-term relationship with a small, experienced team that gets to know your business and stays with it. That's what we sell. Not a portal, not SLA tiers.

1. Discovery

We sit down with the owner or office manager and walk through how the firm actually works, systems, kit, what's frustrating.

2. Onboarding

A structured handover from your current IT firm, without the team noticing. Most onboardings run in the background.

3. Day-to-day

Proactive monitoring behind your network, devices, email and core systems. When something breaks, you reach a real person who knows your business.

4. Reviews

Regular reviews of what's happened and what's coming, kit refreshes, new hires, growth plans. Recommendations sharpen over time.

Compliance frameworks we work with

Most small businesses don't think about compliance until a client questionnaire lands, an insurer asks for evidence, or a near-miss makes it suddenly real. The frameworks below are the ones that shape how we configure your IT, business, staff and customer data under GDPR, and the baseline cyber hygiene the UK government codifies as Cyber Essentials.

The principle is the same one we apply for clinics and contractors. We don't tick boxes, we build the controls in so the controls work, and the evidence is already there when an insurer, a client or an auditor asks for it. Compliance becomes a quiet by-product of doing the IT properly, not an annual fire-drill.

We manage the IT your business already runs on

Most small businesses run on a recognisable mix: Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for email and files, an accounting platform in the back office, a CRM somewhere in the middle, and devices spread across an office, a few home setups and a phone in every pocket. That's the environment we own.

We'll be straight about this: we're not selling ourselves as a Xero consultant or a HubSpot implementation partner. What we are is the firm that makes sure your identity, access, devices, network and data are configured properly, so the platforms you've chosen actually work reliably for your team, day in and day out, with the security and backups behind them.

A platform we haven't named? The same discipline applies, we manage the IT environment around it.

Curious if we'd be a fit?

A short conversation. We'll be honest about whether we're the right firm for you.

The questions small-business owners actually ask

The thing the page can't do is have a conversation. If you've a question that needs one, call the number above.

Do we need an in-house IT person?

No, we act as your IT team. Monitoring, security, backups, support and the boring-but-essential housekeeping all sit with us, with a real person you can reach whenever something goes wrong. For most small businesses, that's a better answer than a single in-house hire: you get a small experienced team, not one person whose holiday is also your IT cover.

Can you work alongside our existing setup?

Yes, we can fully manage your IT or complement what you already have, taking on the parts you need covered. Some clients move everything across; others keep their existing email or accounting setup and ask us to own the security, backups and support around it. We'll be honest about what's worth changing and what isn't, rather than rebuilding the world on day one.

Are you only for regulated sectors, or general business too?

Both. Our deepest track record is regulated. 20 years of clinical and orthodontic IT, 50+ orthodontic practices supported, but the discipline that earned those clients is exactly what a small business without in-house IT needs: monitoring that works, controls that hold up, and a real person on the other end of the line. We bring the regulated-sector standard; you get an IT firm that takes your business seriously even when it isn't under CQC.

How fast do you respond when something is down?

We don't publish a hard SLA on this page because the honest answer depends on the issue and what's on fire, but the practical answer for the businesses we support is: fast, by a real engineer, on whichever channel suits you. If email is down or a key system won't load, we'll be on it. We'd rather show you in a conversation what response actually looks like than dress it up in a chart.

What does onboarding actually look like?

Structured, quiet, and finished without the team noticing. We audit your current setup, document what's there and what's missing, take secure handover of admin access from your existing provider, configure monitoring and backups properly, and brief your team on how to reach us. Most onboardings run in the background over a few weeks; the day-to-day experience for your staff doesn't change.

Can you help us with Cyber Essentials and GDPR?

Yes. We configure your IT environment to align with Cyber Essentials and to handle business, staff and client data properly under GDPR, access control, encryption, backups, monitoring and the housekeeping behind them. We won't claim accreditations we don't hold, but the controls we put in place are designed so that when an insurer, a client or an auditor asks for evidence, it's already on file.

What happens when something goes seriously wrong?

You reach a real person who already knows your business. Phone, email or WhatsApp, whichever you'd rather, but for genuine incidents we move to a call and a hands-on response, remotely first, on-site where it's needed. Our monitoring usually catches the early signals before anyone rings in. When something can't wait, we'll be there.

Can we leave if it isn't working out?

Yes, and we make handovers clean, whether that's to the next IT firm or back to you. You're not locked in. We'd rather lose a client gracefully than keep one who isn't happy; that's the standard we hold ourselves to across every sector we work in, and it's the standard we'd bring to your business too.
